This Christmas Illustration is a pen and ink recreation by Chloe from a JC Leyendecker oil painting (reprinted by American Weekly Magazine in 1948).
Joseph Christian Leyendecker was an accomplished Dutch-American illustrator from the Golden Era. His Art-Deco style was well known for magazine covers and poster art, producing over 300 covers for publications with many iconic images of American culture (1920-1945).

In the scene where the little prince has landed in a garden of roses, he feels betrayed by his rose for having lied to him about being unique. He later learns from his interactions with the fox (in this case a raven), that his rose is unique because of the special time they shared.
